Bat Survey, Central North Island

Completing autonomous acoustic (birds) and ultrasonic surveys (bats) New Zealand wide since 2007.

Over the last few years we have helped clients answer important biodiversity questions. Threatened target species detected during surveys have included:

  • Seabirds – Cooks, mottled, and black petrels. Blue and Fiordland Crested Penguins
  • Waders - South Island pied oystercatcher
  • Waterbirds – whio
  • Forest and alpine – NZ falcon, kiwi, kea, takahe, North and South Island long tailed bats

We have been completing large scale observer surveys (2,500 - 10,000 ha) over the last 20 years. We use this experience to design automated acoustic surveys appropriate to target species throughout a range of habitats; from small wetlands < 1ha through to 40, 000ha in remote areas. Acoustics is a good option to consider.
